- Annual Report
Greetings to the AzONE membership
The past year as president of AzONE was extremely rewarding. I have thoroughly enjoyed interacting with other nurse leaders as well as serving as a leader to our board of directors. We were able to accomplish several wonderful initiatives to enhance our membership and connect with a greater number of nurse leaders to discuss and explore topics critical to nurse leaders throughout Arizona.
Our first accomplishment was to expand the quarterly meetings to a videoconference format. This was in response to numerous requests from our membership in past years. Our first year of electronic connectivity brought three sites together; University Medical Center in Tucson, Scottsdale Healthcare in the Phoenix Metro area and Flagstaff Medical Center in northern Arizona. As members, you have shown a great deal of patience throughout our learning curve of advanced technology and we were able to gather an enormous amount of feedback for these efforts. In response to this feedback, we are adding a fourth site in 2011, Yuma Regional Medical Center in Southwestern Arizona. We hope this addition will add to our growing membership and reach potential members from the rural areas of our amazing state.
The second accomplishment for 2010 was our membership growth . Current membership exceeds 245 members from across the state. This is the highest number of members AzONE has seen in recent history. We also introduced a 2 year renewal option as well as clarifying the qualifications of membership to our nursing leaders, attracting a more diverse group of leadership throughout many areas of healthcare.
Lastly, our educational offerings have exceeded the expectations of participants and continue to be driven by the input of our members. Flexibility in planning efforts and a focused proactive plan for scheduling has given us many more exciting opportunities for presentations.
We continue to offer information on key legislative issues, State Board of Nursing updates, and other pertinent topics preparing us for the ever changing world of healthcare to fulfill our mission to be "Leaders in collaboration and catalysts for innovation and change".
As our new President, Karen Jensen takes the reins, we will continue to focus on our vision of "Sharing the future of healthcare through innovative nursing leadership". This vision will be articulated throughout program planning efforts.
A special thanks to our Executive Director, Dale Reimer for assisting us in our efforts of meeting the complex needs of our membership.
Respectfully,
Kim Post, RN, BSN, MBA/HCM, CNAA-BC
